The Bible tells us, "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty." (Prov.14:23). The dream all began when in 1979 Michael graduated from The University of North Carolina with a B.S. degree (you said that right) in Accounting. His next move was to fulfill his "wave research and surfboard development" skills by living and surfing Hawaii for a couple of years and studying LIFE ......and still studying daily.

While  on the North Shore of Oahu,

Michael hung out with master craftsman Ed Barbera at the Country Surfboards factory until "shaping fever" took over and the seeds were planted for Proline Surfboards.

By 1986, Michael was  ready to risk everything he had worked for. On August 1, Hot Wax Surf Shop was opened and they were on their way to surfing paradise. It was always the plan to surf as much as possible, travel to exotic surf spots around the world, and stay trained for the demanding job of surfing (at least that's what they tell the taxman). Times have always been good for Hot Wax and the whole gang surfs as often as it breaks or they make waves (part of the job description). Proline Surfboards has come a long way since the beginning in 1980. Michael has tested the boards around the globe many times - Tavarua-FIJI, Hawaii, Jeffery's Bay-SOUTH AFRICA, Costa Rica, Mexico,  Indonesia Boa Trips.....ROCK ON!!!(WOW) and the search still continues. God Bless America!! 

 It has been over 20 years of many days with long hours and tough situations, but God has blessed the way for Hot Wax. It's now one of the largest Surf Shops in North Carolina and one of the few in the world where you can actually watch your custom surfboard being shaped on the premises.    

With a 6000 sq. foot showroom - there is something fun for everyone. Hot Wax has maintained its commitment to excellence and performance with the highest standards. ROCK ON........
